Confidence Is Built, Not Found

A common belief is that confidence comes first, and action follows — that once you feel sure of yourself, you'll finally do the thing. In practice, it usually works the other way round: confidence is built through evidence, and evidence comes from action, especially the kind taken before you feel ready.

Every time you do something slightly uncomfortable and it goes reasonably well, you collect proof that you're more capable than your doubts suggested. That proof accumulates. Confidence, over time, becomes less a feeling you wait for and more a record you build.

The next time you're waiting to feel confident enough to start, consider starting anyway, in a small and manageable way. The feeling tends to follow the action, not the other way round.
